John Haring serves as the Director of Compliance Enablement manager for Ellie Mae® (NYSE: ELLI), a
leading provider of enterprise level, on-demand automated solutions for the residential mortgage industry.
He is responsible for facilitating the implementation and maintenance of residential mortgage lending
compliance and industry changes across Ellie Mae’s various software applications, systems, and residential
mortgage loan documents. Prior to joining Ellie Mae, he served as the vice president of compliance for
Supreme Lending, and has spent the better part of the last decade supporting banks, lenders, and brokers in
keeping up with significant regulatory changes impacting the mortgage industry. In 2015, Haring was named
one of Housing Wire’s Rising Stars in recognition for his accomplishments in helping the industry prepare for
implementing “Know Before You Owe.”
Sam Morelli is a business executive with 40+ years of banking and mortgage banking experience, and
expertise in real estate finance. He has been recognized by industry organizations for his ability to direct
significant compliance and regulatory changes; and has worked directly with legislators and regulators to
establish sensible compliance procedures. As EVP and Chief Compliance Officer with PrimeSource Mortgage,
Inc., Sam is now responsible for the company’s residential mortgage compliance management program;
represents the company with all regulatory agencies; and supervises all compliance personnel. He has been
active with the Mortgage Bankers Association for many years at the local and national levels, including
the MBA of Greater Philadelphia (GP) and the MBA of Pennsylvania (PA). He’s completed his six terms as a
member of the national MBA’s Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG), three on the national MBA’s Board
of Directors, and two as the MBA’s Membership Chair. Sam supports numerous industry groups, including
Mortgage Action Alliance; MORPAC, the industry’s political action committee; American Association of Residential Mortgage
Regulators’ (AARMR) Advisory Council; and the NMLS Industry Advisory Council. He is a member of the Mortgage Compliance
Magazine Advisory Board and serves on the magazine’s “Ask the Experts” panel. He holds the Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB)
Jerra H. Ryan is Vice President of Compliance at Cherry Creek Mortgage Company. Jerra worked as a litigation,
real estate and regulatory compliance paralegal before entering the mortgage industry over 20 years ago.
During her mortgage career, Jerra led branch production in excess of $250-million per year. Following RESPA
2010, she recognized the need to help colleagues navigate the gray space between the black-and-white rules.
She left the front lines of origination to drive the alignment between compliance and production and to “define
the black” for the cabinet, originators and operation teams by creating policy, procedures and compliance-specific best practices to demonstrate compliance with the rules. She is known for raising the compliance IQ and
fluency among mortgage professionals to promote consumer, company, investor, and agency protection. Over
the past decade, Jerra has served as President of the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association, on its Board of
Directors, and on the Legislative Affairs and Education Committee. Jerra holds a B.A. in English Language and
Literature/Letters from Metropolitan State College in Denver.
Julie Manson has more than 35 years in the financial services and mortgage banking industry. During her
career, Julie has been responsible for business strategy, risk management, credit policy, quality assurance
and control, compliance, and operations. Julie is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association
Regulatory Compliance Committee and the Risk Management Committee. She is presently Executive Vice
President - Operations at Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc.
Cindy Williams serves as Vice President of Regulatory Compliance at Policy Works and oversees all of its
compliance partnerships, delivery of compliance solutions to credit unions and credit union leagues, and new
product development. She also assists credit unions with strategic compliance program management. Before
joining Policy Works, Cindy was responsible for creating, implementing, and managing regulatory compliance
programs for financial institutions of various sizes for more than 20 years, and she is a frequent speaker at
national conferences and workshops. In addition, she has experience in the areas of risk management and
internal audit. She holds the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) certification, the Certified Regulatory
Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification, and the Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification. Cindy
received her undergraduate degree in English from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.
